Stadi and Quayn decide to go camping in New Lhasa's unspoilt jungles. Stadi tells Petersen that he is in charge whilst she is off-duty. Before leaving, Lyranna and Ashok go shopping to redecorate her quarters. Ashok has some of the material made into a dress.
Petersen follows up on an invitation from some Terabians - in whose culture abides a suspicion of telepathy. This suspicion is now applied to those with the New Lhasan Syndrome, especially a quasi-religious group called the "New New Lhasans" who proclaim it as the next stage in the planet's evolution. They hint to Petersen (who is not yet widely known amongst the citizenry) that they could do with information on where lawfully detained New Lhasa Syndrome people are - but none is forthcoming. Later, Petersen and Veltr'a meet to discuss whether the NNL grouping require monitoring, but decide it would be unjustified.
Stadi and Ashok's sojourn is interrupted more than once by wild animals, but Stadi is equipped to deal with them and they never pose a threat.
Later on, Petersen, Merif, Reinhart, and Veltr'a join in a holodeck adventure of derring-do and high fantasy. Veltr'a and Merif take a while to get into the swing of things. The holodeck functions perfectly.
There are a number of episodes this season without a dangerous A-plot. This is the first.
