Season Two

226 Invisible Hand

De La Compostella pulls enough strings to get a front-line posting. He ends his recuperative leave early - after all, he got a clean bill from Marenna - and leaves for the front as quickly as possible. Kal Orioli also leaves for Betazed.

Meanwhile, there is a large explosion on the shuttlecraft Dione, on its way to New Lhasa. A shuttle is carrying Kath'lar and Petersen to the Tekindus shipyards on a shuttle to the secret shipyards, and they go to assist. After an initial problem with the transporter, Starfleet personnel beam over.

The explosion has taken out a bulkhead, with one death and one injury amongst the five on the shuttle. One of them - Elizabeth Heimat - attacks one of the other passengers, and nearly kills the Starfleet personnel who have boarded the ship. Meanwhile, on the command deck of the Dione, Kath'lar, Fef the Ferengi, and Tanya Nehru the human former Maquis, engineer a gun. While creating the gun, they discuss Elizabeth's motives, the Maquis, and the failings of Starfleet. With Petersen's help, they overpower Elizabeth.

The victim turns out to be George Petersen's father, Sam. He was a civil in the government of George's home world, a UFP ally, and is trying to escape with information about negotations between his planet Camot and the Dominion.

George's father shows symtoms of the progressive neurological disease "Garange Syndrome" that Starfleet had been treating. His flight to the UFP had taken him away from his Selotronic acid therapy. When he gets to New Lhasa, his treatment is complicated by the absence of medical records.

Loras Veltr'a, still very injured, goes to the Captain.

Nurse Ferra refuses help from Lyranna Quayn in dealing with the increasingly inconsiderate Marenna.

Merif and Veltr'a spar in the holodeck. Loras was in no state to do this - and a blow from Merif knocks him out. He goes back to sick bay.

Petersen returns with his father's Padd, which was broken in the fight. Kath'lar hacks into the Camot medical systems, and obtains Sam Petersen's medical records. Without the need for laborious diagnostics and rediscovery of what works best, Sam Petersen now has a fairly positive prognosis.

More detail on the failed first attempt at transporting. Why did Nurse Ferra refuse help from Lyranna, what help, and was it the other way round?
